Our rapidly growing construction company is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and deliver construction projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with a focus on fiber optics, construction management, cost control, risk management, and planning. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the success of our team, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to create functional and efficient project plans.
- Review and study project specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
- Develop and implement detailed project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
- Estimate, negotiate, and agree on project budgets and timescales with clients and managers.
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
- Manage the use of building materials, machinery, and equipment, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Oversee and direct on-site personnel and subcontractors.
- Evaluate risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status, daily reports, and other necessary documents.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, preferably with a focus on fiber optics.
- Proven working experience in construction project management, including record of successful project delivery.
- Expert knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
- Understanding of all facets of the construction process, including competency in financial management, risk management, and project planning.
- Proficient in construction management software packages.
- Ability to plan and see the “big picture”.
- Excellent knowledge of building and construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices, and the ability to coordinate a diverse set of professionals.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- PMP or equivalent certification would be considered an asset.
